Chinese PV companies are popular at the South African Energy Exhibition

South Africa's 2012 Energy Show was held in Johannesburg, the largest city on the 21st. China's PV industry sent the largest lineup to participate, and was welcomed by South African Department of Energy officials and many companies and citizens.

About half of the famous Thornton Convention Center in Johannesburg is a booth for the Chinese PV industry, including photovoltaic, solar thermal and solar applications.

Teng Zhihao, deputy general manager of Hong Kong Huizhan International Group Co., Ltd., which is responsible for organizing Chinese companies, said that 80% of the Chinese companies participating in the exhibition are private enterprises, which indicates that more and more Chinese civilian PV companies are beginning to attach importance to the South African market. At the same time, at this exhibition, the South African Ministry of Energy exhibited products for the first time, indicating that the South African government is paying more and more attention to the development and utilization of renewable energy.

South Africa's management director Hart told reporters that since the first launch of the South African Energy Exhibition in 2009, this is the largest one, with about 200 companies participating, of which 60% are from China, including mainland China and Hong Kong. Hart believes that South Africa has sufficient sunshine and Chinese solar energy companies have advantages in technology and price. The cooperation prospects of both parties are very good.

The South African Energy Show is part of the 2012 Energy Conference in South Africa. The South African Energy Congress, co-sponsored by the National Energy Association of South Africa and the World Energy Council, was held in 2009 and has been held annually since then to exchange views on the challenges facing the energy sector in South Africa and Africa as a whole.

According to South African official statistics, more than 90% of South Africa's electricity comes from thermal power generation. In December 2009, South Africa pledged at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 34% by 2020. In recent years, the South African government has strengthened the development and cooperation of renewable energy.
