Huntsman collaborates with T. Michel Formenbau on eTPU materials

HC Plastics News: Recently, Huntsman's thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) team has established a special partnership with T.Michel Formenbau GmbH & Co.KG, which is the main production of molds and tools for the plastics processing industry. Business.

The alliance will benefit manufacturers of plastic products that want to explore the range of extended TPU (eTPU) applications.

Huntsman and T.Michel Formenbau will offer a complete range of end-to-end material selection and steam forming services – recommendations for the optimum material selection for the specific application, as well as the design, production and testing of the mold. The two companies will also collaborate on research projects to explore how to improve eTPU and steam forming technology, bringing more convenience to plastic processors who want to use this lightweight technology in different applications.

Under the terms of the agreement, Huntsman will also use T.Michel Formenbau's technical center in Ruttert, Germany to test and demonstrate the processability of its eTPU products. At the technology center, Huntsman will evaluate new products to ensure they are compatible with the latest steam forming technology. For customers who want to evaluate the processing properties of existing materials such as smartLite ® 1560PF TPU, Huntsman will also conduct steam forming tests and demonstrations. This ultra-lightweight particulate foam technology is widely used in the production of sports shoes, but has greater application potential in many industrial markets.

Huntsman chose to work with T.Michel Formenbau because the latter's technology center has a variety of molding equipment. T.Michel Formenbau specializes in the development of EPS/EPP foam forming tools, PUR foam forming tools, injection molding tools, deep drawing tools and particle foam injection molding machines. The company has also invested in the development of the latest laser equipment, which produces molds that produce special surface textures.

Olaf Michel, global technology manager at Huntsman Polyurethanes, said: “As a global company, we have our own testing equipment, but we also know the importance of working with external companies. For cooperation with T.Michel Formenbau We believe that using their expertise, using their high-precision equipment, and getting feedback on our materials is very valuable. We first contacted the company in 2015 and quickly realized that we have established long-term relationships with them. We have great potential. Our initial cooperation is mainly to test eTPU materials for the footwear industry. Next, we will continue this work, but we will also actively explore how to expand the application range of eTPU."

Thorsten Michel, general manager of T.Michel Formenbau, said: “Doing research is not a closed door, but working with partners, sharing knowledge and optimizing materials and processes. These are the cornerstones of all our research projects. Together with our expertise in the Routel Technology Center, we are able to quickly achieve our partners' research goals – whether it's testing particulate foam or other plastics used in light construction. We look forward to working with Heng Simai's team collaborates on various joint research projects.

High Pressure Globe Valve

High pressure Globe Valve identified as class 900 and above according to the requirements of ASME B 16.34 which normally used in the high pressure main streaming pipeline or high pressure bypass water feeding pipeline etc. The main function is to cut off/cut on or regulating the medium controlled by electric actuator or handwheel. The sealing principle of pressrue seal seal valve is sealing surface tight off under pressure and they are widely applicated in petrochmical, thermal power plant.
