Diamond wire saws were invented in the UK in the 1950s, initially incorporating diamond-plated beading on multiple strands of steel. A lot of work has been done to improve and improve the diamond wire saw until the diamond wire saw was commercialized in the carrara marble quarry in Italy in 19781979. The use of diamond wire saws and diamond beaded ropes for hard rock sawing requires further development.
There are three types of diamond wire saws in the stone industry for completely different applications. The first type is a mobile single-diamond saw rope used for diamond wire sawing machines for quarrying stone. It is estimated that there are 2,000 such diamond wire saws used in the world to mine marble and limestone in 2003, and about 1,000 are used to mine hard rock. The fixed single rope diamond wire saw machine is mainly used for block material shaping.
The MDW-multi-diamond wire multi-rope diamond wire saw is the latest type of wire saw. It is estimated that there are about 50 multi-rope diamond wire saws working in the world in 2003. At the beginning of October 2006, the number of saw blades has increased to 110. The multi-rope diamond wire saw can be subdivided into two basic types; sawing thin plates or sawing machines for sawing thick plates. In 2000 Bideseimpianti shipped a diamond wire saw machine with 50 sawing ropes to the Granisa stone factory in Spain. The machine was later modified into a wire saw with 58 saw ropes. The diameter of the steel rope is 4mm, the diameter of the bead is 6.7mm, and the monthly output of the thickened 20mm granite 20mm is 20,000m2. Compared with the steel sand frame saw, it is only 6000m2. At the end of 2006, Bideseimpianti is expected to sell 20 GDLD30/GOLD60 wire saws.
It was also in 2000 that Pelle Young Machinery started the production of its multi-rope diamond wire saw. The multiwire sawing machine Polywire 5/16 can be equipped with 5 and 16 sawing ropes for sawing 21-151mm thick plates according to its design requirements. The company now offers a new diamond wire saw with 30 and 32 strings. Pellegrini claims that the output of a single wire saw is equivalent to the production of three steel sand frame saws.
Table 3 and Figure 1 are comparative data published for the first time six years ago, and most of them are still valid until now.   On the other side of the Atlantic, Cold Spring Granite (CSG) decided to design and manufacture its own multi-rope diamond wire saw, one of which began to work and work in 19% of the year. Founded in 1898, CSG is now one of the world's largest granite mining and processing bases. The company has 5 stone processing sites, more than 30 quarries and approximately 1,400 employees. Ray Jaeger, the company's engineering manager, confirmed that the company has multi-rope diamond saws in Canada, Texas, California, New York, South Dakota and Minnesota. Some wire saws are used for granite mining. The 15 multi-rope diamond wire saws in Texas and Minnesota are computer controlled and automatically lubricated. It is no longer a problem for users to recognize the multi-rope diamond wire saw, but there is a strong demand. Many people around the world have recognized the benefits of multi-rope diamond wire saw technology and are now ordering the device. We believe that a saw with a minimum of 30 sawing ropes is a very practical multi-rope diamond wire saw machine, the reason is that it is possible to saw once, and at most two can cut a large block. As shown in Figure 3. We believe that such applications will need to increase in the near future. Some users have decided to add a multi-rope diamond wire saw to complement their traditional steel sand frame saws to meet the growing demand in the market.
Mr. Emillo Brocco of Wire Engineering replied:
According to my opinion, there are several reasons for the increasing recognition of multi-rope diamond wire saws:
1. No need for skilled technicians to train operators within 5 working days, and operate and use the machine under the guidance of others.
2. High output, low energy cost, and good working environment.
There is great flexibility in the direction of (8h sawing).
Regarding the range of sawing materials, it has great applicability. It is possible to saw marble, limestone, slate, granite, mysterious weapons, sandstone, etc. using the same sawing machine.
Low mechanical maintenance.
If high production capacity is taken into account, the mechanical cost is low. The slit width (ie diamond bead diameter) is only 7 mm.   It takes only a few minutes (according to our wire saw machine) to change the spacing between the saw ropes and the thickness of the sawn boards.
The answer to the second question is of course also affirmative. I expect to produce about 20 multi-rope diamond wire saws per year. Of course, not all of them are like the Arianna XF72 multi-wire saw, which we produce, with 72 strings. Fast sawing speed; can cut different materials; easy to pay, very flexible in changing the thickness of sawing material at constant speed; low equipment maintenance cost; small installation footprint; simple and low cost equipment installation base.
We believe that the number of multi-rope diamond wire saws will increase significantly.

Thousands of traditional frame saws are used worldwide, and the first frame saw was installed in the mid-1950s. About 10 years later, steel sand was introduced for frame saws. Obviously this technology is familiar to all operators, and the sawmill manufacturer is still improving and perfecting its products.
