On August 25, 1994, the “Diamond Film Preparation Key Equipment†project demonstration meeting was held in Beijing. May 6th, 1995 was the day when the “863†project project expert group came to the stone for acceptance review. The accident happened. Just the day before, the equipment malfunctioned and the plasma torch did not discharge. Anxious, all the researchers searched for the cause overnight, until the morning of the 6th problem has not been found. Finally, it was determined that the gas path was blocked by oil, the problem was finally found, and the fault was eliminated. At this time, only three hours left before the expert group arrived at the scene. Everything went well and the experts were very satisfied. In this way, we won the right to establish the "863" project of "Development of Key Equipment for Diamond Preparation". At that time, this made us the first unit in Hebei Province to undertake the "863" project.
After receiving the support of the "863" program, all the mobilization, grouping and tackling, began to develop a film-making equipment with a power of 100W. It took half a year to be successfully equipped and a diamond film with a diameter of 100 mm was prepared. On January 30, 2006, six academicians including Lin Lanying, Shi Changxu and Jiang Minhua came to the site to organize acceptance. By looking at the preparation process, diamond film products, viewing photos and videos, the expert committee gave a high evaluation: "The successful development of high-power DC plasma jet CVD equipment has made us the third company after the two companies in the United States. A unit that independently designs and manufactures similar equipment. It not only provides an alternative industrial preparation technology for diamond film tools and heat sink applications, but also lays the foundation for future optical applications."
By undertaking the "863" project, we have stood on the high ground of scientific research, entered the international advanced ranks, and are at the domestic leading level; earned a reputation for the Academy of Sciences and laser; and created favorable conditions for the follow-up financial support for the diamond project. . Since undertaking the "863" program, the diamond project has received more than 4 million yuan of funding from the state, the province and the Academy of Sciences. The project and its related projects have won six provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards, of which 1997 won the first prize of Hebei Province Science and Technology Progress Award.
Second, perseverance, altogether difficult, embarked on the road to industrialization
There is no smooth road to scientific research, and the industry is more difficult. The idea of ​​industrialization was mentioned in the cooperation agreement signed with the North University of Science and Technology in the summer of 1996. After winning the first prize of the provincial scientific and technological progress in 1997, it will consider the specific implementation. The idea at the time was to achieve two industrializations: first, the industrialization of equipment; second, the industrialization of diamond film products. The diamond wire drawing film was sold in 1999. At that time, the application of the Hebei River area was relatively concentrated, and our researchers went to the river to find the market. Unexpectedly, a large number of returns near the Spring Festival came. The quality of the wire is poor and the surface is not smooth: there is a problem with the quality of the product. After analysis, the problem lies in the diamond film: the density of the diamond film is not enough, the grain boundary is too large, and it is easy to drop the drill.
The transformation in 2000 made us have great difficulties. First of all, the business expenses were gone, and we were faced with the pressure of self-support and self-reliance. Transformed into a business, the people are floating, and the backbone is lost. At the beginning, researchers involved in the diamond project, almost a half of the retired retirement and transfer of the retired years after the reorganization, almost all of the three graduate students were abandoned.
The product is not hard, the market is not open, the funds are gone, and the talents are lost: the difficulties are heavy and the steps are hard. However, the host of the project left behind, and some of the research backbones were left behind. They also faced various temptations, but they were very determined to stay. Years of hard work, many years of feelings, they have to live with the project, and share with the project, they are responsible for this project, to the Academy of Sciences, the laser station, responsible for this team. The company has maintained the operation of scientific research and development by selling equipment, seeking research funding, and subsidies for cutting machine revenue, and has also brought this team out of the difficult swamp. Selling equipment is also a must for survival, although it is mainly sold to universities or research institutes for research. The research funds that have been won by various channels, although not very large, have played a significant role in the most difficult years. Because we are very clear that the path of industrialization has become the only choice, and it is also the touchstone for testing the level of scientific research. While improving equipment and improving the process, we are still paying attention to the progress of our foreign counterparts. In this way, through years of painstaking efforts and unremitting efforts, a benign interactive relationship has been established between the market and scientific research. Now we can mass produce different sizes of wire drawing cores, dresser blanks, heat sink films and some optical films. In 2006, we took the lead in launching transparent mechanical grade CVD diamond in the world. With its high performance and price ratio, it attracted widespread attention in the European and American markets, and quickly achieved world-leading market share, becoming one of the few high-quality products in the world. One of the manufacturers of CVD diamonds. Since 2005, the sales revenue of diamond film has basically maintained the normal operation of the project. At that time, the operating income was less than 2 million yuan, and in 2009 it jumped to more than 9 million yuan. Third, strengthen scientific research reserves, optimize the development environment, and strive for better results
Ten years of grinding a sword. More than a decade of hard work can be described as hard, but in the end it has come out of a path of its own. This road also reveals us: grasping scientific research and creating its own technological advantages. The science is infinite, and the market is constantly competing at a higher level. According to market development trends and requirements, in the past two years, we have successively launched "Gem-scale diamond large single crystal preparation", "boron-doped CVD diamond film deposition technology", "high-end CVD diamond preparation key technology - defect research" and "large Research on topics such as the preparation of high-quality diamond thick films.
The global financial crisis that began in 2008 has never been more widespread and deeper, and the diamond project has not been spared. From this, we feel that our products are too single and our customers are too single. In order to maintain the leading edge of domestic and foreign countries, we also need to constantly explore in the frontier areas of scientific research and continue to expand new directions.
