Very low proportion of original products

It is reported that Chinese original design furniture accounts for less than 3% of the market, and the Chinese furniture industry urgently needs to make breakthroughs in original design. In 2010, "original design" once again became a hot word in the industry. Some experts called for: China's furniture design industry must stop as soon as possible to rely on plagiarizing international mature design solutions to seek its own development of the abnormal path. The demand for original works and original designers in Chinese furniture design has never been more urgent.

China is not only a big country of furniture production, but also a big country of furniture consumption, but original design is the "soft spot" of Chinese furniture. At present, there is only one professional designer for every 10 furniture enterprises in China. More than 60% of furniture enterprises are in urgent need of design talents. The Chinese furniture industry urgently needs to transform from "processing-oriented" to "design-oriented".

In the face of fierce competition, the domestic market will engage in price wars. It is difficult for foreign markets to rely on low-cost comparative advantages. A large number of high-quality furniture design talents are stationed in furniture manufacturing enterprises is the key to the sustained and rapid development of the furniture industry.

Talent structure has not formed an echelon

Although many companies have realized the importance of hiring designers, even paying a high salary may not always be able to get satisfied designers. According to incomplete statistics, there are currently more than 30,000 furniture companies in China, but fewer than 3,000 designers. In other words, there is only one designer for every 10 furniture companies. Not to mention the gap in the number of furniture designers, the few designers have a large level of disparity. Mature designers such as "rare and rare" are more "drawers" who can only do simple imitation and drawing work . On the whole, the level of talents in the furniture design industry is limited, and a good "echelon structure" has not been formed.

For furniture designers, it is important to be able to express their design intension to the harm and manufacturing departments smoothly. Although the demand for talent in the furniture industry is very large, it is difficult to find employment due to the weak design skills of many graduates. At present, there are more and more funny designing furniture design majors. In addition to Beijing Forestry University, Northeast Forestry University and other forestry colleges, vocational colleges in the furniture manufacturing provinces of Guangdong and Zhejiang focus on training furniture designers. A few training institutions have also set up related training courses. It can be said that in the past two years, the number of furniture design talents cultivated by various sectors of the society has increased geometrically, but apart from the good employment of graduates from a few colleges and universities, most people find it difficult to find a suitable job after studying furniture design.

Weakness in corporate design

Domestic furniture production companies are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises, and most enterprises do not yet have the concept of furniture design. They think that instead of hiring designers with high salaries to design products, it is better to take the furniture drawings from foreign furniture stores back to the factory for reproduction. Costs can be reduced, and the cost advantage gained in this way is invested in the endless "price war" to meet the advantages brought by low cost. This can only be limited to the low-end price war forever.

Modern furniture companies should be soberly aware that as a fashion consumer, furniture is no longer limited to price competition, it has risen to the high end of the industry chain, that is, competition based on brand and design. As an asset, original design can not only help furniture companies to maximize profits, but also make an important foundation for the company's products from "brand" to "famous brand."
