According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the output of industrial robots in China was 148,000 units (sets) in 2018, an increase of 6.4% over the previous year. Zuo Shiquan, director of the Policy Planning Division of the Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, told the reporter of the Economic Information Daily that the domestic industrial robot market is expected to reach nearly 10 billion US dollars by 2020; plus the system integration service, the market size is expected to exceed $30 billion.

However, there is still a certain gap between the development of industrial robots in China and the international. Yu Haibin, director of the Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, told the Economic Information Daily that industrial robots have gaps in technology, such as crawling and recognition capabilities, and the application of different scenarios needs to be improved. Zuo Shiquan also said that the core short board lies in the backwardness of advanced sensing and control technology, and the high-end precision reducer and control system are also dependent on foreign countries.

"The focus of future development is to strengthen basic research and key technologies and components; second, to closely integrate application scenarios, such as industrial robots and production processes," said Zuo Shiquan.

In response to the shortcomings of the technology, the central bank clearly stated in the recently released China Monetary Policy Implementation Report for the fourth quarter of 2018 that financial institutions are encouraged to promote the innovative development of financing, leasing and pledge business, and increase financial support for the industrial robot field. Taking enterprises as the main body, it promotes core technology research and development, industrial chain construction, application field development and regional agglomeration development.

For the industry application shortcomings, many places have also developed a clear road map. Hebei Province has clearly defined that by 2020, the density of industrial robots will reach 100 units/10,000, and it will be applied in new energy, automobile, electronics and other industries. Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province is also proposing cars, general equipment and electric equipment in relevant plans. Focus on the industry and popularize industrial robot applications. In addition, many local governments have clearly formulated annual plans at this year's local two sessions. For example, Anhui Province proposed to promote the application of more than 5,000 industrial robots; Zhejiang Province has clearly added 16,000 new industrial robots.

Zuo Shiquan said that the promotion of industrial robots in various regions should focus on the application of side pull and supply side to promote "two-wheel drive": First, combined with local advantageous industries, guide users to actively apply according to market rules, rather than through simple subsidies. Second, it is necessary to strengthen the introduction and cultivation of robot development and use talents, and master key research and development and application technologies.
