Dutch scientists develop new environmentally friendly electric cars

According to a report by Hong Kong’s “Eastern Network” on April 14, researchers from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands have recently developed an environmentally-friendly electric vehicle that can degrade 90% of its components.

The electric car has two seats, and most of the components such as the body, structural parts, and interior decoration are made of biodegradable plastic polylactic acid and hemp fiber composite materials, which are made from sugar cane. Researchers assembled composite sheets to make structural components such as chassis and frames for cars. Paints also use materials that have less environmental impact. It is alleged that more than 90% of parts can be broken down if the car is buried in the soil.

In addition, the car's complex shape of the curved parts using 3D printing technology, and the important parts of the vehicle using a honeycomb structure, and steel and ordinary plastic similar strength and stability, while reducing weight. The body weighs only 350 kilograms and is less than half the weight of a light car. The car has a top speed of about 100 kilometers and a maximum driving distance of 240 kilometers. It is suitable for use in the city.

Eindhoven University of Technology has so far produced four electric vehicles that use biodegradable materials. They are also working hard to improve the use of this material. The researchers plan to obtain the license required for driving on the general roads before the summer and try out the cars in major European cities.
