China's natural gas imports more than doubled in July

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said on Monday that China imported 2.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas in July, more than double the amount of the same period last year.

The NDRC said that China imported 1.5 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas in July, according to Dow Jones Newswires, which is more than 50% higher than the same period last year. The National Development and Reform Commission also said that the import volume of natural gas from Central Asia was 1.2 billion cubic meters, but no year-on-year figures were provided.

The National Development and Reform Commission stated that China's natural gas imports from January to July this year doubled to 16.8 billion cubic meters.

The NDRC also stated that since the PetroChina Jiangsu Rudong LNG project was put into production in late May, it has supplied more than 190 million cubic meters of natural gas as of the end of July.

The National Development and Reform Commission also stated that gas storage in Dagang, which was responsible for the winter peaking task in North China, started gas injection from April. As of the end of July, cumulative gas injection was 1.4 billion cubic meters, an increase of 100 million cubic meters from the same period of last year.
