It is expected that China's demand for electrolytic aluminum will increase by 20% this year. The global demand for electrolytic aluminum is expected to increase by 10% to 12%. Therefore, RUSAL will increase the expansion of the Chinese market and hopes that sales in China will increase by 20% this year.

During the 2008 financial crisis, demand in the aluminum market also fell sharply. Global aluminum prices also fell to a record $1,400/ton. RUSAL suspended some aluminum production and reduced its total capacity by about 10%. Muhammadshin revealed that the company has resumed some of its production capacity, but “because the current global economic development is not too stable, global aluminum prices have not been particularly good in the past two years, lower than our expectations, if global aluminum prices continue to rise. , we will consider restoring full capacity."

However, Muhammadshin is optimistic about China's aluminum market. “Because the demand for aluminum in the Chinese market is growing very well, and some aluminum smelters in China will reduce production capacity, China’s low aluminum prices will not last long, which provides a good opportunity for Rusal to enter the Chinese market.”

Compared with Chinese aluminum producers, Rusal has the advantage of low cost. Muhammadshin told this reporter that compared with China's aluminum plants, because Siberia, where the Russian aluminum factory is located, has a large number of hydroelectric power stations, the production cost of Rusal is relatively low. “Generally, every ton of aluminum produced in Russia. The cost is $1,700, but it will exceed $2,000 in China."

While increasing the expansion of the Chinese market, as the world's largest aluminum producer, RUSAL is actively promoting the birth of the world's first aluminum exchange-listed fund (AluMINIum ETF).

Muhammadshin told this reporter that Russian aluminum was preparing for the aluminum ETF eight years ago and has been communicating and discussing with the relevant investment banks. At present, an investment bank is basically ready and is expected to be fast this summer. At the end of the day, the first aluminum exchange listed fund (Aluminium ETF) will be launched.

Previously, ETF products were mainly concentrated in gold and oil, and Rusal, as the world's largest aluminum producer, will supply aluminum for the first aluminum exchange listed fund.
